Matthew and I had our first official date in the fall of 2020.

Three years later, as storm clouds rolled above us on marina jetty, he got on a shaky knee.

     As we started planning our wedding, we came across the garage space that is now known as Avanti Hair Collective. We knew how big of an undertaking it would be all while planning a wedding in eight months. Time was not on our side and it would slip from our fingers if we didn't jump at the opportunity. 

      We purchased the space in January of 2024 and began the build-out that demanded every extra moment we had. Our days became a constant rotation of working our day jobs, heading to the salon to work into the night and somewhere in between, planning a June wedding. It felt insane but our dream to open our own space was driving us.

      In April of 2024, we opened the doors for the first time and two months later, got married in the rolling hills of Brooklyn, Wi. What once was an empty garage, became an open concept salon of seven rental chairs. Each stylist is their own business but they work alongside each other. It's the perfect combination of camaraderie while still working how they want, in a way that fits their lives and families. My own business, Töned Hair Co., became the first rental chair at Avanti Hair Collective. I have loved being my own boss and have fallen in love with this unique space;
